New post from giustino
PhD scholarships at the University of Texas, Austin
The CSEM (Computational Science, Engineering, and Mathematics) PhD program at the Oden Institute, University of Texas at Austin, is currently accepting applications for Fall 2021.
We seek outstanding students who are looking to gain interdisciplinary expertise in computational science, with a focus on computational methods, high-performance computing, and data science. CSEM PhD students initially complete advanced coursework in applied mathematics, computer science, and in field-specific disciplines such as for example condensed matter theory and many-body electronic structure theory. During their second year, CSEM students join a research group at the Oden Institute. Faculty at the Oden Institute who are active in electronic structure theory include Prof. Jim Chelikowsky, Prof. Alex Demkov, Prof. Feliciano Giustino, and Prof. Graeme Henkelman, with research programs spanning large-scale ab initio simulations, many-body perturbation theory, materials for electronics, optoelectronics, and energy, as well as methods and software development.
PhD scholarships including tuition and salary are awarded to the most competitive candidates. In the previous admission cycle 2020/2021 the Institute extended 20+ fully-funded scholarship offers to U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.
The application deadline is December 15.
