PhD and PostDoc Positions Available in Condensed Matter Physics / Computational Materials Science

PhD and PostDoc positions are available in a joint project in physics and materials science at IZTECH. The focus of the project is theory and modelling of thermoelectric transport in novel two-dimensional materials. Please visit the group websites for detailed information about the group activities:

The successful candidates are going to work for a research project funded by TUBITAK. Performing density functional theory calculations, development of computer codes for quantum transport of electrons and phonons, performing transport calculations and finding optimization conditions for thermoelectric efficiency by using nano-structuring schemes are some of the tasks.

PhD candidates are expected to have their degrees in a closely related field, to have a solid background in quantum theory and experience with computational methods.

The successful postdoc candidate should have a PhD degree in condensed matter physics, computational materials science or a related field. Ability to develop computer codes (ranging from small scripts to medium size programs) is desirable. Experience with ab inito calculation methods and non-equilibrium many body perturbation techniques will be an advantage. Good communication skills both orally and in written English are required. The initial appointment will be for one year with possible extension to three years.
