Dear colleagues,

The deadline for the submission of abstracts to the mini-colloquium

"Theoretical spectroscopy: extending the ab-initio landscape"

has been extended to May 14th.
There are still some slots available for contributed talks.

The mini-colloquium will be held as part of the international conference CMD26: “Condensed Matter in Groningen” organized by the European Physical Society in Groningen, The Netherlands from September 4th to September 9th 2016.

The focus of the mini-colloquium is on challenges and advances in the ab-initio description of spectroscopy using for example density-functional and Greens-function techniques. Several recently developed experimental techniques that probe the ultra-short time and space scales and the high-field limits challenge these standard theoretical tools. In addition a more diverse family of response properties and systems needs to be covered. Our aim is to identify and discuss the limits of these approaches and to propose advances that need to be made to accurately simulate experiment.

The program includes invited lectures, contributed talks and posters that will be selected from the submitted abstracts.

Confirmed invited speakers:
Stefano Di Sabatino (Ecole Polytechnique, France)
Guido Fratesi (University of Milano, Italy)
Matteo Gatti (Ecole Polytechnique, France)
Paola Gori-Giorgi (Vrije Universiteit, The Netherlands)
Myrta Grüning (Queens' University of Belfast, UK)
Alessandro Principi (Radboud Universiteit, The Netherlands)
Davide Sangalli (CNR, Italy)
Stefano Sanvito (Trinity College, Ireland)
Giovanni Vignale (University of Missouri ,USA)

Registration and abstract submission:
Registration and abstract submission is arranged via the website of the conference: http://cmd26.eu .
We draw your attention to the fact that junior researchers can benefit from reduced registration fees!

Deadline:
Please note that the deadline for abstract submission is May 14th.
The early registration deadline is June 20th.

Additional information:
More information about the CMD26 conference and the mini-colloquium can be found here:

We would like to encourage you to forward this Call for Abstracts to colleagues and students who might be interested in the conference.

Looking forward to seeing you in Groningen,

the organizers,

Arjan Berger (University of Toulouse, France)
Paul de Boeij (University of Twente, The Netherlands)
